There will be no miracles here.

We are all trying to navigate the current situation whilst being bombarded with cheesy emails from brands earnestly professing they are 'there for us', as well as 24 hr news networks pumping out horror stories calculated to scare our lizard brain into a perpetual cycle of cortisol production.

The big question is - how long will this last and what will be the 'new normal'? No one has the answers. But we don't necessarily need them, what's required is positive decisive action. Easy to say. Hard to do.

That means if you are a marketer like me, we need initiatives that help the companies we work for recover quickly, find new revenue streams and (re)build market share. Not pumping out more meaningless drivel.

When I get stuck, I think of my favourite spot in Edinburgh, between the two buildings of the Gallery of Modern Art. If you stand in just the right place you can see two art installations. They express differing (seemingly opposite) points of view. On one side you see 'There will be no miracles here' which speaks to me about personal accountability, on the other side we have 'Everything is going to be alright' which is about an optimistic mindset. I think both are 100% relevant.

Everything is going to be alright.
